Ingredient Analysis of Watson Bird Nest Cream

Few days ago, I bought Bird's Nest Silk Facial Cream from Watson, link is here : http://www.watsons.com.my/Unpublished/Skincare/Facial-Care/Facial-Moisturiser/Bird%27s-Nest-Silk-Facial-Cream-50g/p/BP_88997

It felt great in my skin, i.e. it makes my skin becomes moist, and it got me wondering if there is any harmful chemicals, so I start my search on its ingredients.

This comes in a jar, like this
What makes me feeling suspicious too is the jar doesnt have any ingredient written on it, or it may have but it is in Chinese, and I couldnt find the information in Watson website too. Hence, I have to make a second visit to Watson store just to find the ingredients and the license too. FYI, all the ingredients in English is written in its outer box.

Before I went there, I actually did some test to make sure that it doesnt have mercury. I took a little of the cream, and spread it over a paper then iron the paper. Some YouTube video says that if it contains mercury, the paper will turn black. Luckily, after I iron it with medium heat, it didnt turn black. Just to make sure, I even made the comparison to Bodyshop cream and it looks the same.
The top one is from this cream and the lower one is from Bodyshop
On top of that, I also notice that the cream's fragrance is not strong and the color is not shiny white.

Moving on to the license number, I am a bit relieved that it has its license number although in Chinese and it doesnt tell me anything, but at least, one assurance from Government.

Now, it contains a lot of ingredients, 57 in totals.

Natural ingredients, there are 10 of them as below. Unfortunately, I can't copy and paste as table here, so you have to bear with me with picture format.

What I like best is it has quite many natural ingredients. I dont really know that snail's slime can be used as skincare ... lol. And not only that, sericin which is extracted from silkworms as well. And it turns out that shea butter has a cool name, which is Butyrospermum Parkii .... lol.

Another ingredient which I like best too, was Disodium EDTA which has the characteristics of removing metal such as mercury from your blood.

Now coming to the other ingredients, it has 30 other chemical ingredients mainly as emollient, conditioning and emulsifier which is considered non harmful.
And lastly, 15 other ingredients which may be harmful for us.
I am very intimidated with Methylparaben and Quartz. It says that it may lead to DNA damage and quartz can be human carcinogen, i.e. can cause cancer. As for the rest, we may be able to handle it by routinely wash our face before bed time. Luckily as a muslim, you have to pray 5 times a day in which you have to wash your face, so hopefully the chemicals doesnt really stick in my face and become less harmful.

Nonetheless, given that they dont disclose how much % the chemicals is, I'd rather not to buy again and will try to find other skincare which has less chemicals but less expensive too.

Surprising fact about Prozac

Puppies and polar bears are on Prozac

While no one knows how many pets are on Prozac, Americans spend an estimated $15 million a year on behavioral medication for their cats and dogs.

In 2007, Eli Lilly, the maker of Prozac, launched Reconcile, a chewable form of its drug, for canine separation anxiety.

Now even zoo animals are on antidepressants, for everything from aggression to obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Ed Sheeran - "Kiss Me" (Bing Lounge)

Lyrics credit from: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/edsheeran/kissme.html
One of my favourite song from my favourite singer, and tribute to my favourite someone.

"Kiss Me"

Settle down with me
Cover me up
Cuddle me in

Lie down with me
And hold me in your arms

And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed to my neck
I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet
And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love
We're falling in love

Settle down with me
And I'll be your safety
You'll be my lady

I was made to keep your body warm
But I'm cold as the wind blows so hold me in your arms

Oh no
My heart's against your chest, your lips pressed to my neck
I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet
And with this feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love
We're falling in love

Yeah I've been feeling everything
From hate to love
From love to lust
From lust to truth
I guess that's how I know you
So I hold you close to help you give it up

So kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love
We're falling in love

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
You wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love
We're falling in love

And I like you
I love these roads where the houses don't change (and I like you)
Where we can talk like there's something to say (and I like you)
I'm glad that we stopped kissing the tar on the highway (and I like you)
We move in the tree streets
I'd like it if you stayed

Pengalaman Online Check In KLM

Today is July 21st 2013 and I am bound to go back to KL.

Flight ticket on hand and last time when I was flying KLM, it took me quite long to line up for check in. Smarter this time, I chose to do online check in to avoid the queue.

Flight time is 18.55 and boarding is 17.30, wow very early. Well my definition of boarding is of course we are waiting at the departure gate and the aircraft is ready for us. However, the definition of boarding in this KLM may be slightly different with my definition.

So back to the story, since I'm not ready for some rush, I went very early to airport. Reach airport at around 4.15 pm, thats my earliest time ever!!!

Reach airport and feeling glorious not to do line up for check in, I went straight to the immigration gate and directly to the departure gate. And guess what happen?!?! I opened up the boarding pass again and read a line there saying "Soekarno Hatta airport please pay airport tax at check in counter before proceeding to departure gate".

Feeling not so winning anymore, I immediately ask one of the officer can I pay at the departure gate? He said "I'm not really sure, but you can try, the gate is not so far anyway". Then I said "Okay" and went to the departure gate.

Eekkkkk ... it turned out the gate is not yet open so I have to wait outside. Ermmmm .... this is not so nice anymore. Under normal circumstances, I probably wont mind, but with this one heavy bag pack plus I have to open my belt everytime I walked in thru the security gate, so not practical.

I took my chances and I headed to the nearest exit. Exit wasnt very easy to find and at the end of the tunnel, there is this immigration guy asked me "Where are you going?" I said "I havent paid airport tax so I have to get out and pay". Then he said "You dont have to, you can pay at the departure gate". So I said Okay, I went back in and feeling a bit guilty to the security officer when I said "Why do you have to check me again?". Later I realized she's right, I am just being annoyed for being have to open my belt. Lesson Learnt: even if you are wearing belt, try to cover it bcos that will be the first thing they suspect when the beep is sounded. Anyway ...

I chilled myself, open my notebook and get busy. Not long after that, the departure gate open and I check in fast fast.

First, there is this random security check where you have to open your bags and all. And I have to let my rendang goes away because it is not sealed properly and the oil is dripping ... eww hahahha i know, gross. But it is quite expensive :p

Second, I proceeded to the gate and told the officer directly I havent paid the airport tax and he told me "You should have checked in first, because they need to check your passport, baggage and all. But it's okay, please have a seat while I'll try to call front desk.". Well, at least they are friendly.

So my question is, why do online check in first hand? :D If I still have to line up, check my baggage while it has been checked MULTIPLE times. Maybe online thingy doesnt suit Indonesia at all because my online check in experience with KLM in KL is seamless and very smooth.

I cut my regular SIM so that it can be inserted to my Nexus 4, then I want to put that thing in back to my Iconia.

So I recollect the SIM and put that back in. Now my Iconia can read the card but I cannot get it out.

So lesson learnt :d

Data Traffic for Mobile Broadband Indonesia 2012

This post will show you the comparison for Mobile Broadband data traffic in Indonesia market for the year 2012. This data was taken from the big 3 operator annual data which are :
  1. Telkomsel
  2. XL
  3. Indosat
Fortunately these operator are public listed company, hence we can retrieve the data from their published annual report.

Total subscriber data are as follow:

We can almost see the proportion whereby XL is about 50% of Telkomsel's subscriber and Indosat is about 50% of XL's data subscriber. The data subscriber here consist of Blackberry Subscriber, Mobile Broadband subscriber and Pay as You Use subscriber.
The following 3 charts are the proportion of data subscriber towards total number of data subs. Those legend with (calculated) means that this number is deduced, while estimated means that this number comes from verbal source or was assumed, and those without legend means that this number is taken from operator's report.

If you look at the number above, the proportion almost similar, mostly are Pay as You Use, and then coming at the second place is Mobile Broadband package, this is the data packages which are offered by operator, for example, Rp 50,000 for 1.2 GB a month, and then the last proportion is Blackberry subscribers.
Now let us see the total data traffic contributed by each data types:

The proportion is more or less the same between Telkomsel and XL. If we re-look at the total data subs number again, Indosat total data traffic should be more or less half of XL's data traffic. But however, it is obvious that Indosat has not generated enough data traffic. Looking at this chart, I was reminded that Indosat has not been aggressive enough in offering their data packages, hence much less data traffic compared the other 2.
Please be mindful, that the only actual data I can retrieve from the report is the TOTAL DATA TRAFFIC. All the others are deduced.
My take on the monthly average user consumption as follow:

Again, this number is not confirmed, because if you think logically, very less likely that one user will only consume 700 MB or 64 MB in 9 months (9 months because this data is based on the 9M3Q report from each operator).

My Favourite Movie 2013

This is written in historical order. Please note that this is only my personal preference, does not necessarily mean excellent in technical or actor is great in acting. Only preference for me as user who already watched movie since 1990 :)
  1. 28 Jan 2013 : Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters
    IMDB Link : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1428538/

This movie is excellent because the story line was rather unexpected. The movie title suggests us something that is related to children fairy tales. But when I was buying the ticket it was emphasized everywhere that this movie is not suitable for children.
The story is not focused on the Hansel & Gretel when they were children defeating the witch. Instead, it told about grown Hansel and Gretel hunting down witches. The plot is not very complicated, it is light enough for us to digest. Even we dont have to think at all. Pure entertainment.
The fresh side is actually it was published when all the colossal movie were talking about scary witch murder, or kingdom crash down, horror, ghosts. This one has a slight bit of comedy combined with blood fighting. I like the scene where one of the monster's head was actually crashed down by another monster, no censors, but it doesnt look disgusting for a bit at all.
The fact that there is no hurt, or disgust, or tragedy, in a classic set, makes a great combination to the movie.

  2. 03 Mar 2013 : Zero Dark Thirty
    IMDB Link : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1790885/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Second movie I like is Zero Dark Thirty. This movie is about hunting down Usama Bin Laden, which is shortened to UBL.
The interesting part about this movie is this is based on real story. Unlike common movie story, which has a climax point which really drives audience nerve, this story seems flat. The climax scene which is the ambush to UBL house, does not really gives stomach churn to me, but it did seems real. That is the interesting part, it focuses more on the process rather than the result. And IT FEELS VERY REAL.
Maybe that is why I like it. Among all movies which offers fairy tales, or too good to be true story, or too sad to be true story, this one offers very real, very soothing movie. One that does not make us dizzy and reflecting the fights in our lives, which all of us can relate, very well depicted.

Pengajian vs Kepentingan Umum

Yesterday began with wonderful things.

Going for lunch, watching movies, visiting a friend, having country like dinner but then abruptly ended with the worst traffic jam ever.

Kalau ada yang notice, kemarin itu ada pengajian, dunno who, maybe the assegaf guy, di perempatan tanjung barat.
Selain itu, sepertinya di cibubur junction, arus keluar masuk kendaraan jadi collateral damage, karena jadi bikin macet mulai dari pintu tol keluar cibubur itu sampe ke tanjung barat, hahahaha, massive traffic jam, makes me wonder if the traffic jam in tokyo is as bad as this.

Ternyata, kita ngga sepenuhnya beruntung karena it turned out that, jarak rumah yang hanya 500m, ditempuh dalam waktu 1 jam, huhuhuhu, definitely not moving an inch .... Hahaha okay itu lebay, bergerak 1 meter, diem 15 menit :D. Fieeewwww ....

Mungkin pemerintah kota Jakarta seharusnya memperhatikan hal - hal seperti ini pada saat memberikan ijin. Pay attention to the minority, dan aku rasa, as a moslem, I also knew that this kinda thing shouldn't happen in the first place. Bukannya dulu ada cerita yang masjid dibangun tanpa merusak rumah seorang wanita non muslim? Aku rasa kalaupun ada pengajian, seharusnya diijinkan di lapangan atau di gedung dengan lahan parkir yang mencukupi.

I am a moslem, but I also don't agree with what happened last night. Pengajian ngga seharusnya mengganggu kepentingan umum :)

My Last Day

Today is the last day for me as an employee of one company which values emotional string between employees.

As a tradition, there is always like farewell party but in a much lighter version, meaning it's a lunch and not that pricey thingy.

As someone who's not really caring, I'm quite surprised to have this present. You could check out the letter. It's probably too tiny to see, so I'm gonna rewrite it and have it commented.

1. Ari : Garfield ... Good luck for you there ... I am gonna miss you my stubborn and clever little sister ... "
Hmm you know what, I'm quite a lil bit relieved staying away from you knowing that you always outsmart me :p and I'm grateful I never once my line of work I've gotta stand against you :p but ... You always able to find out what's gonna happen next, I'd say you'll be good advisor for president ;)

2. Melvi : Hi Man ... Wish you all the best jangan lupa kalau ada lowongan gw daftar ... =))
Kayaknya wish you all the best itu punyaku deh, yah ga jadi trademark lagi deh. However, all the best to you too .. Keep in touch, we have an unfinished business ;)

3. Betma : Yuvi ... Sukses dunia akhirat yah jangan lupa shalat ... Haha, emak mode on. Salam Persahabatan. Ratih Betma, ini nama elo yang marketingin nih yup.
Hehehe yang bikin lo kan, gw cuma mempopulerkan, tapi emang populer ya nama itu? Thanks mba bet, so far that's the wisest from everyone :d surely gw ga akan lupa shalat, tapi bukan karena elo yang ingetin sih, karena biar ngga dosa aja :p

4. Soni : Yuvi ...

Yas, lo payah deh, maunya nunggu traktiran mulu :p, kalo mau kedua ketiga, berarti lo kudu sekantor terus dong sama gw, duh bencana :p

6. Dessy the duck : Yup .. Yup .. Ah elo mah yup ... Selama masih penguin berbentuk garfield I know u'll be fine .. He .. He .. He bye now .. Cu later
Ah elo mba des, as long as u keep having someone to hitch ride, I know u'll be fine :p and find someone else to go tasting all those food you're craving with no complain :p

7. Desy : yupi ... Congratz ya, finally lulus wish u all the best n get merried cup cup muahhh ...

Iya rur thanks, in any kind of way, you are broer than me. And jangan keburu nyusul, kasian mba ari ntar jadi kurus lagi dia :d

9. Tiwi : hey u garf (ini sapaan khas mba tiwi), come by sometime ... I'll get u nice cotton ball :d good luck
Hahahaha so if someday there is snow puring down and forming a gigantic snowball in front of my door, I know someone to blame :p and u know what mba, this cotton ball thing always got to me every time :p

10. Acd : hay there, ah, you might be will missing us (me) too much .. Hahaha ... Jump higher & be happy .. Yay .. Yay
Is this hay word a new coolie? Or is it just you guys ... Anyway will be surely missing you because now if I got problem with dress or the likes, I don't have anyone to turn to :p or if i need to know what does this food taste like or if I need to hear those random conversation in the morning

The World's Biggest Gold Reserve

1. United States
Value of Reserves: $387.32 billion
Holdings Total: 8,965.6 tons

The United States Bullion Depository in Kentucky — otherwise known as
Fort Knox — is the most famous gold stockpile in the world. It holds
the majority of the nation's gold reserves, the remainder of which is
held at the Philadelphia Mint, the Denver Mint, the West Point Bullion
Depository and the San Francisco Assay Office.

Altogether, the total gold reserves of the United States equal 8,965.6
tons and would be valued at approximately $387.32 billion in today's
market.

2. Germany
Value of Reserves: $161.99 billion
Holdings Total: 3,749.8 tons

The Deutsche Bundesbank, Germany's central bank, has 3,749.8 tons of
gold reserves, which are valued at about $161.99 billion. According to
the World Gold Council, Germany's gold coffers account for 70.3
percent of total foreign reserves.

3. International Monetary Fund (IMF)
Value of Reserves: $135.56 billion
Holdings Total: 3,137.9 tons

The IMF oversees international economic operations of 185 member
countries. Its gold policies have changed in the last 25 years, but
the reserves remain to stabilize international markets and aid
national economies.

In one such instance, it sold a portion of its reserves in December
1999 to aid the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative. The
3,137.9 tons of IMF Gold would fetch roughly $135.5 billion in today's
market.

4. Italy
Value of Reserves: $116.75 billion
Holdings Total: 2,702.6 tons

The Banca D'Italia manages Italy's foreign reserves, which have been
reported at 2,702.6 tons by the World Gold Council and comprise the
fourth largest gold reserve in the world.

These holdings are worth $116.75 billion and account for 68.6 percent
of the country's foreign reserves.

5. France
Value of Reserves: $115.97 billion
Holdings Total: 2,684.6 tons

The French National Bank, Banque De France, is home to the country's
gold holdings, which comprise 67.2 percent of its foreign reserves.
With 2,684.6 tons of gold in reserve, France's holdings are worth
approximately $115.97 billion.

6. China
Value of Reserves: $50.19 billion
Holdings Total: 1,161.9 tons

At 1,161.9 tons, the world's most heavily populated country has the
world's sixth largest gold reserve. Expect it to be higher? Well, bear
in mind that China's gold only accounts for 1.7 percent of its foreign
reserves. With a population of 1.34 billion, the country holds about
$37.45 worth of gold per person, totaling $50.19 billion.

7. Switzerland
Value of Reserves: $49.53 billion
Holdings Total: 1,146.5 tons

The Swiss National Bank conducts Switzerland's monetary policy and
manages the country's 1,146.5 tons of gold.

With the world's seventh largest reserve of the precious metal,
Switzerland's supply is worth approximately $49.53 billion in today's
gold market, accounting for 16.4 percent of the country's foreign
reserves. This proportion is down significantly from a year earlier.

8. Russia
Value of Reserves: $36.91 billion
Holdings Total: 854.5 tons

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation is in charge of the
country's 854.5 tons of gold, which are valued at $36.91 billion and
comprise 6.7% of the country's foreign reserves.

In 2009 Russia increased its gold production by 21%, due in part to
the launch of several new mines, and this past year overcame Japan in
total holdings, adding over 140 tons to its stockpile in 2010 alone.

9. Japan
Value of Reserves: $36.43 billion
Holdings Total: 843.5 tons

Although Japan is ninth on the list, its 843.5 tons of gold account
for only 3 percent of total foreign reserves. On the open market,
Japan's gold reserves are worth around $36.43 billion, and are
overseen by the Bank of Japan.

10. Netherlands
Value of Reserves: $29.67 billion
Holdings Total: 675.2 tons

The Netherlands has the tenth largest reserve on the list with 675.2
tons of gold. The Netherland Bank manages the country's national
finances, including the gold reserves, which amount to approximately
$26.67 billion and account for 57.5 percent of the country's foreign
reserves.

11. India
Value of Reserves: $26.56 billion
Holdings Total: 614.8 tons

Shooting up in the rankings in the past years is India. The second
most populous nation in the world maintains the eleventh largest gold
reserves. The size of India's holdings were bolstered in November 2009
by a $6.9 billion purchase of 200 tons of gold from the IMF.

The Reserve Bank of India oversees the country's 614.8 tons of gold,
which are valued at $26.56 billion, comprising 8.1% of its foreign
reserves. India's current ranking may also continue to move upwards,
as the government has asked the Geological Survey of India to mine the
previously untapped gold reserves in many of its states.

12. European Central Bank (ECB)
Value of Reserves: $23.88 billion
Holdings Total: 522.7 tons

Established in 1998 by the European Union, the European Central Bank
is responsible for the monetary policy of the member nations of the
Eurozone and is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany.

The ECB's 522.7 tons of gold accounts for 25.2 percent of the bank's
foreign reserves and would be worth $23.88 billion in today's market.

13. Taiwan
Value of Reserves: $20.17 billion
Holdings Total: 466.9 tons

Renowned for its technology industry and robust economic growth,
Taiwan also boasts one of the largest gold reserves in the world.

The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) manages the island
nation's foreign reserves, which have been reported at 466.9 tons.
These holdings are worth $20.17 billion at today's prices and comprise
approximately 4.6 percent of the country's foreign reserves.

14. Portugal
Value of Reserves: $18.21 billion
Holdings Total: 421.6 tons

The westernmost nation in mainland Europe is home to the fourteenth
largest gold reserve in the world. At 421.6 tons, Portugal's holdings
are overseen by Banco de Portugal and are worth roughly $18.21
billion, accounting for 81.1 percent of the country's foreign
reserves.

15. Venezuela
Value of Reserves: $17.33 billion
Holdings Total: 401.1 tons

Banco Central de Venezuela manages the 401.1 tons of gold in the
country's reserves, which amount to approximately $17.33 billion,
representing 52.4 percent of the country's foreign reserves.

Although Venezuela currently has the fifteenth on the list, it has
been increasing its holdings since 2009, when president Hugo Chavez
introduced new policies to promote gold extraction and boost the
country's ranking.
